What is SEBI Check, and do I have to tell clients about it?
In force
SEBI Check lets an investor confirm that the UPI ID or bank account they are about to pay really belongs to a registered intermediary. They can scan your QR code, type the UPI ID, or enter a bank account number with the IFSC code.
It works for any payment method, not just UPI. Someone paying you by bank transfer can check your account details the same way.
It is at siportal.sebi.gov.in/intermediary/sebi-check and in SEBI's Saarthi app. Both went live on 1 October 2025.
Creating investor awareness of the new handles and of SEBI Check is listed as your duty in the circular, alongside displaying it on your website.
Note the older page at sebi.gov.in/sebi_check.html still says "Coming Soon". Do not send clients there.
